The Showafa

The Showafa, "the one who sees", has always been integral in Moroccan tradition, male versions of the Showafa were known as a Fqih, and both are as old as people can remember. Many years ago, they would be sought out for various matters, most notably for marital or medical problems faced within households, and in return they would be offered money, gifts or specifically sugar. The Showafa, with the assistance of Jinn, would be able to identify witchcraft, possession or a victim struck by an Evil Eye. This allowed the Showafa to stay one step ahead of any threats by preparing talismans that would serve as protection for any challenge ahead.
